Every Which Way Blog Tour and Giveaway

Severine Blake has seen far too many friends taken down in the crossfires of dating. She devises a precise course of action to protect her heart. The plan is working very well...until she meets Thayer and Macsen.
When the Sloan brothers come into her life, nothing is the same.

Thayer is self-possessed, arrogant and used to getting what he wants. Being near him leaves Severine unsteady and shaken. He makes her question everything.
Macsen contradicts his brother in every way. His calm personality captivates her. Severine is drawn to him instantly.
But Severine quickly discovers that when you want something, that want can turn wicked. Giving in is not always easy, especially when your heart refuses to give up the fight.

What little illusion of love Severine has is soon destroyed. Every option is broken, and the protection she has built around her heart instantly crumbles.

There's just no right way with the Sloan brothers. Synopsis taken from Goodreads

My Thoughts:

Wow!Just wow! I was not expecting to pick this book up and not be able to put it down but that's exactly what happened.

Calia Read, you have made a "slam dunk" with Every Which Way, I know I'm a dork but I had to make reference to the basketball pun. The character's were believable and I completely could relate to them. I enjoyed the romance and boy did it get steamy.

Severine is a strong female character and I loved being inside of her head.  Watching the relationship between her, Thayer and Macsen unfold was wonderful to read. I found myself torn between team Macsen and team Thayer and then BAM!

Wow, I just didn't expect that one!  I was completely shocked at what I was reading and felt all of the emotion Severine was experiencing.  My lips are sealed on this one, I will just tell you, you need to read this one!

The main character's are amazing but she's created wonderful side character's as well.  Severine has great friends and I enjoyed reading the conversations and banter they had back and forth.

Calia Read leaves you wanting more of the Sloan brother's and Severine and that's exactly she's going to give you.  Breaking the Wrong is scheduled for publication in 2013, I cannot wait!  I cannot say enough about this wonderful book except just go buy it and you'll can thank me for it later.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth {Divergent #2}

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature. {Synopsis taken from Goodreads}

My thoughts:

Wow! Just holy freaking wow! I absolutely loved this amazing book. I was extremely skeptical because of all the reviews I had seen and thought it wouldn't live up to the first book. It. completely. did.

So many sophomore books don't live up to the first book but this was just not the case with Insurgent.  Veronica Roth's writing style is still amazing. I just devoured this book and loved the fact that it was over 500 pages. I could just keep reading and loving Tris and Four.  One of my worries was that the romance I enjoyed so much in Divergent wouldn't be present in this book, it was even better!  Tris and Four are definitely developing their relationship and it's growing to be more and I love being a  part of it.

The only thing honestly that bugged me about this book was Tris.  I realize that she has just lost both of her parents so she's allowed to fall apart but she drove me a little crazy in this book but it worked really well.  Roth was able to tie up the broken Tris and make it a pretty amazing story.

Their are so many "holy oh my gosh's" in this book, some I just was not expecting and I just loved that.  I enjoy being shocked by a story and Insurgent definitely did this, especially the ending. Wow! What a cliffhanger. I just was not expecting that!

I absolutely cannot wait to read the third book of Veronica Roth's.  She herself is evolving as an author and I'm just so happy to be reading her wonderful books.  Her next book cannot come out soon enough.

I give it 5 big fabulous rainbows!

Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen

I don't do dangerous.  Smart, über-careful, ordinary Samantha-that's me. But I just couldn't pass up a surprise kiss from my number-one unattainable crush. A kiss that did something to me...something strange. Now I feel hungry all the time, but not for food. It's like part of me is missing-and I don't know if I can get it back. Then there's Bishop. At first I thought he was just a street kid, but the secrets he's keeping are as intense as his unearthly blue eyes. If he's what I think he is, he may be the only one who can help me. But something terrifying is closing in, and the one chance Bishop and I have to stop it means losing everything I ever wanted and embracing the darkness inside me.... NIGHTWATCHERS When angels and demons must work together, something beyond evil is rising...
